Press Behind Neck
A very simple exercise, but is vital to get right. It should be balanced on the traps, in a position where it would be balance with or without the use of your hands. The technique is to squeeze the bar off the shoulders into a locked out position over head. Elbows should always be directly under the bar. The movement should be smooth and relatively effortless. Being able to do this well, demonstrates a good level of structural balance and health of the shoulder and surrounding joints.
If it isn't then you should look at doing some assistant exercises to work on that. Have a look at our Program Library for ideas or contact one of our Coaches for assistance. |
